I kept thinking we'd move our 5er any time, so kept things packed up and did some heavy cleaning instead of crafting. Then came the morning when I ignored the "high water" sign that I've ignored lots of time in my life, forgetting that I was in the little car instead of the 3/4 ton pickup I'd been driving.... The result was not pretty! And I FORGOT to take a picture of that little red car sitting in the midst of a small lake. :( Dead. Drowned. Never to run again.
After a couple of weeks of having nothing to drive--hubby had to have the pickup for a work car after that--I found my little Subaru Forester! (I never liked that car much, anyhow! LOL!) It had to have a tune-up, new brakes, etc. So hubby went off to Indiana and I gradually got that stuff dealt with. Then hubby found a little pickup truck to replace the big one...and traded our Goldwing for it. The truck came with it's transmission in the BED! So, we stayed here some more... and on and on and on and on.
I gave up, planted flowers, overhauled the old gas grill and found a new craft!
The Haichol Indians in the Sierra Madres mountains make 'prayer bowls' out of gourds. The bowl is lined with a mixture of beeswax and pine tar and then tiny glass beads are pressed into the wax to form intricate designs. Lacking access to gourds, I picked up a stack of little clay bowls in the Garden Center, ordered some Beadswax and stuck my first bead into the center of my first little bowl--and was hooked! I'm only limited by the colors I have in my bead stash--and space! I've got a dozen of them made and no clue what to do with them!!!
Summer is winding down, and I'm still 'living alone' on our little 2 acre hilltop with 3 dogs! Hubby is still working 6 days a week and living in the truck camper 120 miles away, but the job is winding down--along with the season. I've been delegated to update the resume and cast about for a winter job somewhere warm! The RV is gathering cobwebs!
Meanwhile, Hubby has decided we need boulders on our hill! Every week he brings home the biggest rocks he can load by himself at the jobsite.... I'm thinking we might need to build a waterfall next summer.... :)
